3×3 SERIES – 01

3×3 Series-01, Milano, late December 2016-early January 2017 [Huawei Y5]

This is a new photo project inspired by the fluidity of mobile photography. With this series of b&w collages (3×3 shots taken with Retro Camera app) I would like to explore a faster way of “taking pics”: in each collage different elements of urban life (iron, wood, concrete and, obviously, human) are mixed all together according to my mood of the moment.

PREVIOUSLY UNPUBLISHED “STOP CPE” SHOTS

collage-stop-cpe-sorbonne-paris-early-march-2006-72

Paris. March 2006. Students from universities and high schools launched a series of protest rallies in the Latin Quarter against the bill on employment known as CPE. Sorbonne University and Collège de France were the epicenter of the protest. The CPE reportage is my first official professional photo project realized with a super compact and portable Kodak Easyshare C300 camera. Here are published for the first time some unpublished shots of my reportage.

SHAKESPEARE WITHOUT EYES

A friend, art historian Vera Segre, invited me to see a curious show, Shakespeare without Eyes at Teatro libero in Milan. Ten blindfolded spectators are brought on stage by ten actors and involved in acting. I was a bit perplexed: how can a photographer do without the sense of sight? Then I thought I could try an experiment. I challenged my Fuji X30 – I always have a camera with me – and following only the voices of the actors I made a sequence of three shots. The result was curious. I wouldn’t say it’s art, but it certainly is an experiment that I might repeat. Blindfold photography as an alternative way to photography?
