ROSSETTI RECORDS & BOOKS: THE PLACE WHERE I REALLY FEEL AT HOME

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

There are places that “sound” like your own home. Around the world I have found a few, but the one where I really feel totally at home is a few steps from my place in Milan. Rossetti Records & Books second-hand store has been an institution for music (and book) lovers for over thirty years. Born from a “moment of rebellion & freedom” – as Maurizio Canella, a former philosophy student, tells me – the store near Piazza S. Agostino (via Cesare da Sesto 24), in the centre of Milan, has a strong fan base in town and all around Italy. In the Nineties Aron joined his father in the management of the store. In the music store the days are spent between tips on old vinyls (there are 100,000 titles in the archive) and chat about the ‘hoodies”. Writer Raul Montanari often  keeps Maurizio company. If you are in Milan and are looking for a place to regenerate yourself with Music, Rossetti is the place for you.

MC5 50th ANNIVERSARY

MC50_17 72

<Kick Out the Jams… Motherfuckers!> On November 21 at night a sonic revolution was played on stage! People were ready to join Brother Wayne Kramer & Friends (Kim Thayil of Soundgarden; Marcus Durant of Zen Guerrilla; Brendan Canty of Fugazi; and Billy Gould of Faith No More). Militant riffs spawned from Kramer’s and Thayil’s guitars and exploded among the audience; in the background the rhythm section moved forward as a mighty tank on the battlefield; a voice cut the air screaming iconic songs. <Kick Out the Jams… Motherfuckers!> An army of eyes and ears recorded voraciously a piece of future . <Art and creativity will provoke Resistance!>, Brother Wayne said… [All shots taken with FujiFilm X30 during November 21 MC5‘s live performance at Alcatraz, Milan. Thanks to Margaret & Danny.]
