ALMOST A PERFECT DAY: ONE-DAY PHOTO PROJECT
Lou Reed’s Perfect Day in my mind.
With a series of b&w pictures I decided to tell the rite of passage from the past to the present, from 2017 to 2018. I wanted to fight the darkness of Milan’s grey sky to find the light in the grain of reality (I used a digital filter in camera to reproduce the classic film grain).
The day after shows up with its victims – piles of garbage, a dead pigeon, broken glasses – and the next day announces its survivors – a man crossing the street smoking a cigar; girls running in the square as in a postcard from the Far Seventies, etc.
Despite the darkness all around light conquered the contours of shapes and lighted up life in the city. The evening finally came. A new rite of passage will start soon.
It was not Lou Reed’s Perfect Day, but I’m sure tomorrow there will be new things to tell and photograph. Another almost perfect day for me.

NAXOS AS CALIFORNIA IN THE SEVENTIES
A series of b&w shots taken in Naxos, Cyclades, Greece, during the summers of 2015 and 2016 that remind me of California in the Seventies . No details reveal the real location of the set; just lines, contrast and shadows from a possible past. [Shots taken with Canon EOS 1100D, Ricoh GX100 and Olympus E-P2]
LEWISHAM: SOUTH-EAST LONDON
48 hours – day and night – spent with my cameras in the streets of Lewisham, South-East London. Hoodies, people in the pub, local buses, and the railway station are targeted by my curious eyes. As usual, b&w mood is my favourite way to depict the world around me. [Shots taken with FujiFilm X30 and Olympus E-P2 + Zuiko 17mm, 2.8]
